Problem:
How to create an intuative system of texture layering and editing that can be instantly and accurately recreated inside a a console video game. It has to be easily updated, easily editable, with game ready art and data.
Strategy and Solution:
Photoshop scripts were used to extract creation information from a PSD that included Blend mode, Layer Position, Crop size, color Mode, rescale value, feature name, and gradient color blending controls. Artists could work in a tool they were familiar with. Images could be exported and game code generated with just one button press.
Results :
Unlimited variety of composite effects to give characters an amazing range of looks. ”Build a character from 8 to 80!”
